Re: Hazel class trip to Everdon Forest School

Dear Parents and Carers,

As part of our induction into Hazel class we will be visiting Everdon Forest School. During the visit children will have opportunities to enhance their Science learning through; observing how living things are adapted to their environment, investigating microhabitats under logs, stones and leaf litter and classifying organisms using simple keys. Alongside their science learning children will have lots of time in the forest to climb trees, build dens, play on the rope swing, make potions in the mud kitchen and complete some nature crafts too. The day will be filled with opportunities for children to develop skills in team building, communication, independence, risk management and exploration.

Day and Date: Friday 9th October 2026

Timings: We will leave school at 9.15 and return at 3pm so usual drop off and collection from school.

Clothing: School uniform should not be worn and an email closer to the time will be sent with weather specific details.

Permission Permission is required for this trip. Please complete this short form to give your permission for your child to attend / participate.

The trip has been thoroughly planned and carefully risk assessed by the trip leader, our Educational Visits Coordinator and by Miss Lally. A copy of the risk assessment is available upon request.

Please note: by consenting to your child attending the trip you are consenting to them travelling by minibus.

Voluntary Contributions

We have been incredibly fortunate to secure a donation from a local charity to fund this trip and therefore no payment is required.

Lunch Arrangements

Children will need a packed lunch for this trip. Hatton catering can provide a packed lunch for all children but these must be requested online using the SchoolGrid system by midnight 3 days prior to the date it is required. 

Parents in receipt of FSM will get these free of charge but still have to follow the ordering process. 

If your child already has a lunch option booked for the day of the trip this will be cancelled and you will need to rebook the packed lunch option available (eg soft roll / sandwich) via the SchoolGrid system by midnight 3 days prior to the date it is required. 

Alternatively, if you would like to provide a packed lunch from home this must be in a disposable carrier bag with a maximum of 2 drinks (no glass bottles and no fizzy drinks), healthy snacks only please and no nuts due to allergies.
