Music Lessons at School
Learning to play a musical instrument and developing musical skills is one of the most exciting things a young person can do. Not only is it fun and rewarding, but it has proven to help children develop:
• Personal and social skills: self-confidence, teamwork
• Perception, awareness, creativity and imagination
• Language, numeracy and literacy skills
•General attainment and intellectual development
Music lessons at our school are delivered by Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust (NMPAT). As one of the leading Music Education Hubs in the country, with exceptional enrichment and progression opportunities, NMPAT is our chosen delivery partner for music.
NMPAT teachers provide tuition for a wide range of instruments, generally available to pupils from Y3 and above, though recorders and violins may be suitable for some Y2 pupils. The choice of instruments on offer at our school can be seen in the online registration form..
To help you and your child decide which instrument they may be interested in learning, please see the “Thinking of learning an Instrument?” video clips at NMPAT Resources
NMPAT provide instrumental lessons for 33 weeks per academic year, over three 11 week teaching periods, starting from £80.00 per term for shared beginner lessons. The cost of lessons includes the loan of orchestral instruments free of charge. (Not guitars, keyboard or drum kits) Children on Pupil Premium can apply for bursary funding towards the cost of music tuition.
