World Book Day
Description
Dear Parents and Carers
This Year, World Book Day falls on Thursday 6th March. We are looking forward to enjoying books and activities based on the titles of Roald Dahl and having time to read and share our own books, in our own way, in line with the World Book Day theme ‘Read Your Way.’
To make the day even more memorable, we would like children to bring in a cushion and an old blanket or sheet so they can make reading dens to enjoy their books in. If you have an old torch, they can bring this too, to add to the experience of reading in a den.
In previous years, the children have brought home a voucher that they can use in certain stores to purchase a World Book Day book. This year, we have pre-purchased these books and will be creating a ‘book shop’ in our Wonka themed library for children to select their book from.
As a fundraiser, The PTA are also selling chocolate bars and jelly beans after school, with chance of finding one of twenty ‘Golden tickets’ to win a VIP Day in school.
To remove the stress of having to provide a costume, as in the last few years, we will not be dressing up, but children can wear PE kits if they are more comfortable.
For the activities, we would like to request your help. We need small transparent jam jars with lids to be used by certain year groups to make George’s marvellous medicine density jars and BFG dream jars. Please send any small jars that you have via the office or give to class teachers rather than book bags to avoid breakages.
We would like to invite you into school from 3pm on the day so find out what the children have been up to and share a book.
Many thanks for your continued support
