As we enter the final half term of the academic year, there is a real sense of excitement across school with many opportunities still to come before the summer holidays. In recent assemblies, we have been talking to the children about the importance of “finishing strongly” and “making it count” by continuing to work hard, making the most of opportunities and ending the year with pride in all they have achieved.
Year 6 Residential

One of the highlights of this term so far has been our Year Six residential visit to Dorset. Whilst the weather provided a very British camping experience at times, it certainly did not stop the children making the most of every opportunity.
Throughout the week, children took part in kayaking, abseiling, raft building, team-building activities and evenings around the campfire whilst camping in the beautiful Dorset coastal region. Residential experiences such as these play an important role in developing confidence, independence and resilience as children prepare for their move to secondary school.
One particularly memorable moment came during the walk from Durdle Door to Lulworth Cove where the group experienced some challenging weather conditions. Rather than becoming discouraged, the children embraced the experience completely and showed incredible positivity and determination throughout. By the end of the walk, the weather had cleared and the group were rewarded with stunning views of the coastline. Staff were extremely proud of the children’s attitude throughout the week and they were a real credit to themselves, their families and our school community.

A New Chapter at Earls Barton Primary School
This month also marks an exciting milestone for Earls Barton Primary School with the official opening of our new school building and the official naming of the three parts of our building:
- The Dawn Building
-The Horizon Building
-The Beacon Building
The development has added five new classrooms and, for the first time, connected the former infant and junior buildings into one unified primary school. This is an exciting step in our school’s journey and we look forward to sharing photographs and drone footage of the completed project soon.
The May Fayre
Our annual May Fayre was another fantastic community event and it was wonderful to welcome so many families into school. Thankfully, the weather held out and there was a brilliant atmosphere throughout the afternoon.
Children and families enjoyed a range of stalls and activities including tombolas, a penalty shootout, cake stalls and games, alongside performances from our school choir and Year Six’s traditional sword dance.
Events such as these continue to raise valuable funds for the school community. We are incredibly grateful to our PTA, volunteers and families whose support helps provide additional opportunities and resources for our children.
