What a glorious summer we have had! Our children and staff have returned refreshed and eager to start the year and full of news about their summer activities. We were delighted to welcome not only 3 new staff to our team this September but also 5 new children joined our school across various year groups. By the time this article goes to print, we will have also of course welcomed our new 4 year olds into our foundation stage. I am sure they, and their parents, will settle very quickly into the routine of school life.

On the request of parents, we have tweaked our school times slightly. The morning start times remain the same but now the younger children can be collected at 3.25 – five minutes before the older children finish giving those parents time to move between buildings. We have several activities planned for parents to keep them informed about their child’s education this term ranging from information sessions about particular aspects of the curriculum to the autumn parents’ evening where we share information about children’s progress in learning. In addition, Year 1 and Year 3 children will invite their parents to come to their harvest festival performances at All Saints Church in early October and Year 6 will be serving our foundation stage parents refreshments when we join in with the Macmillan coffee morning fundraiser on 27 September.

Other scheduled events this term include a sponsored bounce organised by our wonderful PTA and a book fair – a fabulous opportunity to kick start your Christmas shopping!

Talking of books, we are eagerly awaiting our new school library! This is due to be fitted out, in what was our old school office, at the end of September prior to many new books being purchased. This will certainly excite and engage our children and I know they will all be even more eager to read than they are already!

It is certainly shaping up to be a busy term and I am looking forward to sharing photos with you in future articles.
