We have been in celebratory mood this week as our Key Stage Two cross-country squad brought home the large schools’ trophy for the second year running! EBPS came first out of 27 schools in Wellingborough and North Northants. Well done to the entire squad who ran a gruelling race on a cold, rainy, blustery autumn day! A special mention to all medal winners in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 and to five children in Years 5 and 6 who have progressed through to represent the school again at the county finals due to top finishes.

Our entire squad showed all of our school values throughout the event and were excellent ambassadors for our school. Special mention also to the staff and wonderful parent helpers who led the team to victory!

This year, we are striving to become an “Artsmark” school and to improve the provision of the arts within and beyond our curriculum. For us, the arts incorporate 2D and 3D art, drama, dance, performance and music and we are seeking any local partners who are keen to collaborate with us to further develop our arts offering. We are already planning ahead to June 2024 when we will be hosting a whole school “Arts week” and are keen to work with local artists who can enhance the experiences for our children. If you are, or know, a sculptor, painter, poet or musician who may be able to assist with arts week, please contact the school office.

We have held five successful and busy open events for children who wish to join our school in our Reception classes in September 2024. These have now finished but if anyone knows of families locally who are looking for a school place, we do have places currently in some year groups. Please contact the school office (01604 810371) to book a tour.

Extension update: the planning permission to build the five-classroom extension at our school is scheduled to be heard by the planning committee in December 2023 and I will hopefully be in a position to update local residents on this in the new year.

Christmas

It’s panto season already and we look forward to welcoming a touring production of “Jack and the Beanstalk” to school next Monday, paid for by our wonderful PTA! Lots of other Christmas plans are also in preparation including nativities, carol concerts, a production of Scrooge in association with EB Methodist Church and more! Our PTA are also holding their annual Christmas Fayre on Saturday 2nd December at “The Works” on Queen Street from 2pm – all welcome!
